Political Apathy

Sir
Politicians of almost all political parties in India have, over the period,
started showing an apathy towards the wishes of the Highest forms of judiciary,
the President Of India and the Election Commission. In order to achieve their
selfish ends they go to any extent to overrule the instructions issued by these
institutions. Whether it is the 'Office Of Profit' issue or the Reservation for
OBC, they care two hoots and go to the extent of amending the Constitution. The
frequent amendments have resulted in the dilution of authority of constitution.
The only saving grace has been the actions like that of the President returning
the OOP bill passed by the parliament. It is our fervent hope, towards saving
our democratic institutions, that president holds back the OOP bill indefinitely
if presented again.
As for as, the Constitutional amendments are concerned, a provision should be
introduced so that these can be carried out only through a referendum or by a
overwhelming (say 90%) majority in the house.
